1993 and 1994 mod request - PD: Discussion about how many polygons yo use in F1C cars
#1
Does anyone knows where I can download a 1993 and 1994 mod which car models has less polygons than C&D's stuff?

For some unknown reason, I remember that Crash King released a 1993 mod. Or at least, he had a WIP of it. It doesn't exist on the internet, but still, I remember it. I don't know if this is true or is a false memory.

There were many 1994 mods in the 2000's in F1C. Where I can find one with low polygon car models?

Regards,
Cristian

Download TDG's 1994 mod. It was never officially released so it has some bugs here and there but still I played the hell out of that mod. And I love the car models and tracks in that mod too. Really recommend that mod. As for 1993, AndreyDriver once released a 1993 mod and despite it also had it's bugs here and there it definitely was always an enjoyable mod to play.

I've also got CK's 1993 mod somewhere but I don't know on what HD. I can remember that it was a beta version and that there weren't driver arms. Still was a great mod to play, I once considered to finish the mod with working arms and sounds but real life got in the way for that.

Ah, now I remember that 1994 mod. It was one of the first mods I have ever played for F1C.

Thanks for giving me so wonderful memories.

So, 1993CK really existed. My memory has not failed me.

Kind regards, mate.

Oh yeah! I remember the TDG cars. They really were awesome. Too bad they were never completed. @schumacher180, do you have a link somewhere for it?

In the trackpack, If I recall or remember correctly, the Aidamap.mas file is missing, you can copy the one from the 1995 CTDP track to the 1994 track folder.

What's the advantage of less polygon count?

The advantage of less polygons in car models is that F1C becomes much more playable

Emphasis on much more.

All car models should have a maximum of 2000 polygons. Is a recommended practice. More than 3000 polygons in each car chassis could make the mod unplayable, specially in multiplayer. Im my opinion, nothing is more important in sim-racing games as playability.

Chassis
XXXXVA -> 2000 polygons
XXXXVB -> 1000 polygons
XXXXVC -> 500 polygons
XXXXVD -> 100 polygons

Cockpit
Between 1000 - 2000 polygons

Also, F1C cannot be played with more than 2 GB of RAM.

I tried to use Blender and Polygon Cruncher, but when I modify the car model, the name of most material textures are modified automatically (names are shortened. For instance: ferr92cockpit.bmp to ferr92co). That is a huge problem.

Cristian

Original Cockpit MTS hasn't 1000-2000 Polys. It's maybe 500-1000 xD
