CMT 2018 Formula One Season v1.0 Basic released for F1 Challenge 99-02 - Cristian Luis - 04-26-2018

Is lights out! GO, GO, GO, GO, GO!!! ??️?

(Read carefully everything, please).

The first F1 Challenge 2018 modification has finally arrived and released! Make sure to prepare yourself to reach the limits with these Formula One racing cars. These cars are quite difficult to drive if you don't work on your setups with them. Car physics are made by an engineer specialised in mechanics, who know how to use empirical car, suspension, gearbox and engine data, and knows how to adapt them to the physics of F1 Challenge 99-02.

If you are a modder who wants to release a 2018 mod for F1 Challenge 99-02 using this package of contents or parts from it, please read this: https://www.facebook.com/ConstrictorModdingTeam/posts/2080016022281332

CMT 2018 Formula One Season v1.0 Basic:
Welcome back to the world of Formula One. We bring to you CMT 2018 Formula One Season v1.0 Basic for F1 Challenge 99-02. This is a work done by Constrictor Modding Team which receives the player with all cars and circuits of the 2018 Formula One season: polished, cleaned and prepared for you to race. And that will not be a small one, but you get physics, which will put your ability to succeed to its limits.

CMT 2018 is a stable and solid product, grateful to the novice player who does not give himself/herself the arrogance of playing it realistically (100% race distance, AI strenght and AI agression, without any control help) in his first contact with the sim-racing underworld. CMT is especially enjoyable with steering wheel, and it will guarantee a big challenge who wants to have his/her car on the limit every second. Due to the lightness of the mod and polygon reduction, it is quite stable in multiplayer (which is possible to setup thanks to Mzleiva Ricardo). The more clean you drive, the more will reward you the game.

The main aim of this mod is to try to make the physics as realistic as possible and make anyone of you enjoy the ride, regardless of the limitations which brings this wonderful 15 years old game.

We are very excited about receiving the exposure and would like to thank all the guys over there for giving feedback about the physics of the 2017 CMT mod. Thanks guys we really appreciate it.

This zip-file is provided "as is" with no warranties expressed or implied. The author will not be held responsible for any losses incurred, either directly or indirectly by the use of this package of contents.

INSTALLATION:
Just extract the mod from WinRar to your desktop. Uninstall any previous version of CMT 2018 in the exclusive case of having it. After that, have a look at the readme file and follow its instructions carefully in order to get a successful execution of the game.

Don't install this package of contents in another F1 Challenge folder.

UPDATE NOTES:
This update will cause online mismatches with older versions, and it is not compatible with seasons started with previous versions, so if this is your case, finish the season before applying the update. In light of the physics developments, old setups will no longer work.

ABOUT POLYGON REDUCTION:
Keep in mind that maybe the car models aren't very good because of the drastic polygon reductions. Originally, these cars had more than 60.000 polygons, and in standard quality, they were reduced to just 2000-4000. If I am not wrong, Ralph Hummerich stated that for F1C (a game that only reads one CPU [regardless of how many have your system] and it max RAM capacity is 2 GB, which makes potent graphic card have little-to-no utility), the ideal number of polygons in a car should be 3000 or less. Much more than that would be bad vehicle modding design in F1C.

RE: CMT 2018 Formula One Season v1.0 Basic released for F1 Challenge 99-02 - skandre7 - 06-13-2018

I was testing the mod but unfotunately downshift gear paddle broke on my DFGT so only first thoughts . I won't complain about physics because i've only done few laps, but driving without helps is incredibly hard. Driving on keyboard is only possible with steering, opposite lock, stability, TC and ABS helps on high :O. Menu style is from the original game which lacks few important tabs like: quick car select, advanced graphic options and important tabs from car setup (diff acc, diff dec, diff preload etc.). I would reccomend including advanced menu style : )

RE: CMT 2018 Formula One Season v1.0 Basic released for F1 Challenge 99-02 - skandre7 - 06-19-2018

Okay guys my dfgt repaired itself somehow and i've spent last 2 days on testing the mod. Unfortunately general feeling from version 1.03 is rather bitter-sweet here's why:

Cars in gerenal look amazing there's only one minor bug - steering wheel are mounted few cm too high and are sticking out of the car, ive checked only ferrari and merc but it's probably a issue for all teams.

Physics.
I appreciate that you guys used engineer knowledge in creating physics but there has to be balance between fun and reality. I've been driving with TC on High as the only help, because with TC off it was really hell on wheels. My first feeling was that cars were totally unbalanced aerodynamicaly, with front and rear wing set at 30 rear end kept oversteering and sliding, after few tries i've found the balance with rear+15 difference. I was driving on Canada, Bahrain and China, in all these tracks wings set at 25-40 or 30-45 appeared as the best, balanced choice. I've tried setups from profile "jugador 1" but they were all useless beacause of unbalanced downforce.

Weight distribution is wrongly assigned. In mod it is between 43,7-56,3 and 40,2-59,8 %, while 2018 F1 rules state that it should be between (45.50 : 54.50%) and (46.46 : 53.54%). Cars in mod weight above 740kg while minimum weight for 2018 is set at 734kg. Source - https://maxf1.net/en/weight/

Gearbox. Real F1 uses fixed gear ratios since 2014. In mod they can be altered like with old V8 engines.

Brakes. F1 no longer uses smaller pads for Q so only 2.8 should be available.

Tyres. Rear tyres are overheating very easily, after few hot laps average temp is above 120-130 and it hard to improve laptime.

In general setup changes were all focused on improving the stability of the rear, and stiffening suspension/inreasing ride height so the car wont hit the ground at high speed. After all my setups for Canada, China, Bahrain looked very similar - low steering lock around 11, wings rear+15, anti-roll bars around 250-130, weight dist. 43,7 - 56,3, brake balance 56,5-43,5, camber setting really make smal difference beacause tyre grip is limited by that dancing rear, increased packers, stiffened dampers etc.

Finally - AI (de)calibration. I did my best times with Merc so i thought i was fast but in comparison to 100% AI im nowhere...

I installed compounds for Canada so all times were probably made on Hypersoft tyre, but i think the difference to AI would be similar on other track tyre sets.
China my best time 1:35.247, AI Vettel and Hamilton in qualy are driving 1:32,7 - 1:32.8. 2,5s delta that puts me 14th in Q. ( real PP 1:31.1, real FL 1:35.7)
Bahrain my best 1:29.6, AI 1:27.5. 2,1s delta 15th in Q (real PP 1:27.9 real FL 1:33.7)
Canada best 1:12.9, AI 1:11.7. 1,2s delta 10th in Q (real PP 1:10.8 real FL 1:13.9)

With this in mind comes my general question. How is this mod meant to be played? What is the recommended AI strenght, are there recommended driving helps? Physics is comprehensively remade ( I didnt play 2017 CMT) so it would require to give tips about setups i.e. some info about aero balance, optimal tyres temp etc.
