The ultimate solution to play F1 Challenge '99-'02 in Windows 7 or later
Posted by: Cristian Luis - 08-15-2017, 06:00 PM - Forum: F1 Challenge 99-02 - No Replies

During these last days, I have installed Windows 10 Months ago, I tried to use the Logitech G920 in F1 Challenge '99-'02. It didn't work.

...until I discovered a post from Ical_Everon in NoGripRacing forums:

Ical_Everon Wrote:Hi guys,

This is the way I run F1C in win 7 64-32 without problem,
mods works fine, track mods could saved replays, and NO distorted sounds:

Download Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit

Instal it then run Compatibility Administrator:
Click New to create custom Compatibility - give a name, or directly rename current new profile (New Database(1)).
Click Fix - give a name, choose .exe - clik Next.
Make sure all compatibility mode choice is uncheck in 'Create new Application Fix' window, click Next.
This is it --> check (enable) only EmulateHeap, click Next - Finish.
Click Save - give a name, choose location folder.
Click File -> instal.
Close Compatibility Administrator.

And [strike]F1 Hero[/strike] F1 Challenge '99-'02 worked like a charm, without using Windows 95/98 compatibility mode.

But not the Logitech G920. The input device was not compatible with F1C in that configuration. This turned out to be a big problem, because I had the impression that [strike]F1 Hero[/strike] F1 Challenge '99-'02 was impossible to play with nowadays steering wheels for sim-racing. In conclusion, running F1C with Win95/98 configuration mode will become obsolete and unviable because of software evolution and the apparition of new sim-racing wheels in the future.

Now we are on the present again.

I discovered that (at the moment) without Matrox Cards, the maximum possible resolution is 1600x1200. I am searching a way to make F1C work in 1920x1080 resolutions. Not success to this day yet.

And I discovered the replacement of Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit:
Windows Assessment and Deployment Toolkit.

This is the tool you need to install and configure in Windows 8 or later.

Everything works for me. Logitech G920 works for F1 Challenge '99-'02. And most of the actual sim-racing steering wheels works too.

But I need YOUR feedback.

Is this really the ultimate solution?

This is in your hands.

Please, try my step-by-step guide for playing F1 Challenge '99-'02 without compatibility configurations. This is my first version of it.!NkFU2CQa!gU1o3TMIu8jpn...BNm4lnC9A0

Best luck.

Cristian Luis.

Nurburgring [2002-2013] by Patrick Giranthon

Nürburgring is a 150,000-capacity motorsports complex located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984, and a much longer old "North loop" track which was built in the 1920s around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel mountains. The north loop is 20.8 km (12.9 mi) long and has more than 300 metres (1,000 feet) of elevation change from its lowest to highest points. Jackie Stewart nicknamed the old track "The Green Hell". Originally, the track featured four configurations: the 28.265 km (17.563 mi)-long Gesamtstrecke ("Whole Course"), which in turn consisted of the 22.810 km (14.173 mi) Nordschleife ("North Loop"), and the 7.747 km (4.814 mi) Südschleife ("South Loop"). There also was a 2.281 km (1.417 mi) warm-up loop called Zielschleife ("Finish Loop") or Betonschleife ("Concrete Loop"), around the pit area.Between 1982 and 1983 the start/finish area was demolished to create a new GP-Strecke, and this is used for all major and international racing events. However, the shortened Nordschleife is still in use for racing, testing and public access.

  F1c 1986 Season
Posted by: Sudden - 07-24-2017, 08:06 PM - Forum: Mods - Replies (7)

Hello everyone. I would like to ask something that I wonder since some time.

Does anybody know anything about a possible new 1986 mod?

Some time ago, some brazilian modders (I don't remember the name, I'm very sorry [Image: sad.png]) released F1c 1987 DDR v2.0., a very good mod in my opinion, with a high quality carset, similar than the awesome David Marques mods (the only thing I miss from that mod, are the David Marques wheels of 1983-1992, something logical because it's not his mod), and I heard that they were working on a 1986 mod based in that 1987 DDR v2.0. mod, but I didn't heard anything new from a long time ago.

Does anybody know something about it?

Thank you for your time and your attention. Have a nice day! [Image: wink.png]

How to make a trace file ?
Posted by: haunetal1990 - 07-22-2017, 08:30 AM - Forum: F1 Challenge 99-02 - No Replies

if you are having troubles with the tracks / Mods please make a trace text file and post it here
how to make a trace file>

Step 1: Go to your F1 Challenge directory (C:\EA Sports\F1 Challenge\). There you can find a so called F1 Challenge 99-02.exe file.
Step 2: Make a shortcut of this file.

Step 3:Right-mouse click on this shortcut, select properties, than change the line in „F1 Challenge 99-02" -trace=1000 (do not forget the space between "" and -trace=1000)

Step 4: Apply with OK!
Step 5: Now start your game with this shortcut. After the game crashes go to C:\EA Sports\F1 Challenge\LOG\
You will find a file called: trace.txt
simply `copy and paste` the text In to your Topic / .. whatever.

Converting Standalone Mods [ie CTDP 2005]
Posted by: Malinth - 07-13-2017, 06:32 PM - Forum: F1 Challenge 99-02 - Replies (11)

Hey all!

It's been years but I finally found the time and worked up the effort to fire up the old F1C. A quick thank you to everyone here who have been able to salvage many of the resources from Racesimulations. Smile

So I've been slowly making my way through downloading mods, and I've hit a snag. Way back, I had converted CTDP 2003-2005 mods to work in the base game rather than the standalone CTDP launcher. Now, through quite a bit of trial and error I've managed to succeed in doing it again for CTDP 2003-2004, but CTDP 2005 is causing me a lot of problems.

I would think that the reason for this is that several of the key MAS/TBC/INI files are all under CTDP files, and are absolute jibberish if you try to open them with notepad or MAStudio. Yet, I distinctly remember succeeding in 'porting' over CTDP 2005 all those years ago so it's certainly possible.

Any solutions or ideas?

  Hi, new here
Posted by: ti2blegrr - 05-31-2017, 04:44 PM - Forum: rFactor - Replies (2)

I found a link to your site at rFactor Central and thought I'd check you guys out, what a selection of stuff for rFactor! I've been a NASCAR guy most of my life, dabbled into open wheels a little bit, but now over the past year I've gotten totally hooked and since I have an old single core XP machine I'm limited to what I can run. I'm hoping you guys still support the platform because I have a question.

I'm using the default trainer mod to learn tracks in different seasons of F1, most of those tracks are in track packs, i.e all the 1988's are in one folder, all the 2013's are in one, all the 1979's are in one and so on. My question is, why don't some of these show up as being able to race on in the default mod?
